Low pressure persists, more rain in coastal AP

Visakhapatnam, Aug 26 : Yesterday's low pressure area over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal Andhra Pradesh with associated upper air cyclonic circulation persisted today.According to the weather office here this morning, under its influence, rain or thundershowes were likely to occur at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours.Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur over coastal Andhra Pradesh during the same period.Strong winds from easterly direction in north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh with speed reaching 45 to 50 km per hour were also likely along and off the coast.The chief amounts of rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours were Bapatla 11, Narasapur 6, Machilipatnam 4, Visakhapatnam , Tuni and Nellore two each.
