New Delhi, Jun 29: Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's widow Y S Vijaylakshmi Reddy along with her son and Congress MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and daughter Sharmila today met Party President Sonia Gandhi and sought her permission to continue with the Odarpu yatra in the state.
The meeting at 1830 hrs lasted for 15 minutes after which the family left for Hyderabad. Ms Vijaylakshmi told mediapersons that her husband used to keep all the promises made to the people and her son also wanted to keep the family tradition and fulfil the promise he had made to the people to visit all the families whose members died due to shock of sudden death of Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash,She denied that there was ''arrogance'' behind Jagan's decision to continue with the yatra despite party high command's disapproval.Refuting the charge that Jagan was indulging in ''indiscipline'' in not following party high command's dictat to stop the yatra, she said the yatra was just meant to fulfil the promise made by the former and there was no politics involved. She urged the Congress President to give permission for continuing the yatra. However, after the meeting with Ms Gandhi, the three avoided interaction with media.
