PAIGAH PALACE PLAQUE INAUGURATED (PRESENTLY U.S. CONSULATE OFFICE)

Hyderabad (Deccan Samachar Service) June,24, On the eve of World Heritage Day on 18th April, 2010, the HMDA inaugurated two Plaques one at Greenlands Guest House and the second at Sardar Mahal highlighting the important features of these buildings. On that occasion, it was decided to place Plaques on Heritage Precincts. Today i.e. on 24-06-2010, a plaque highlighting the historical importance of Paigah Palace (presently office of the U.S. Consulate), is inaugurated by Consul General, Mr. Cornelis M. Keur. This building is listed as a Heritage Building, vide G.O. Ms. No.102, M.A. Dept., dt.23-03-1998. It was constructed in 1896 by Nawab Iqbal-ud-Doula (Sir Vicar-ul-Umra II), one of the Paigah nobles and Prime Minster during the reign of the sixth Nizam Mir Mohboob Ali Khan. The building became the office of the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority in 1982. This programme is attended by Sri A.V. Bhide,Member Urban Planner, Sri V.Madhwaraja, Chief Engineer,and Sri Syed Ziauddin, Chief Planning Officer, HMDA, Sri Sajjad Shahid, Sri Sanjay Torvi, Sri Ramesh Kamajosyula, Member of Heritage Conservation Committee and officials of U.S.Consulate.
