Andhra Pradesh first to launch mobile adalat

Hyderabad,The Jun 5: The Andhra Pradesh cabinet today okayed launching of mobile lok adalat at three places in the state on a pilot scheme.It happens to be the country's first mobile lok adalat to reach specifically rural poor to settle litigations at their doorstep without any cost to them.The mobile lok adalat, one in each of the region, will be initially in Ranga Reddy district (Telangana), Kadapa (Rayalaseema) and Visakahapatnam (Coastal Andhra Pradesh), state information Minister J Geetha Reddy said in a post cabinet brief here.The state cabinet also approved Rs 26 lakhs to the each of the centre to purchase vehicle and recruitment of supporting staff on a contract basis. The initiative in this regard was taken in 2007 by the then Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Justice of State High Court and the Judge-cum-Chairman Andhra Pradesh Legal Services Committee.For the establish of mobile lok adalts, the member secretary, AP state legal services authority has requested to issue necessary orders for purchase of three maruthi vans and supprting staff.Six typist cum assistant posts, three driver posts and six attender posts.
