Congress, MIM, TDP win MLC elections

Hyderabad, May 10 : Congress candidate M S Prabhakar Rao, and candidates of All India Majlis Ittehadul-E-Mulsimeen (AIMIM) S Aminul Hasan Jaffri and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) M Narender Reddy, were elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council from the Loal authorities constituencies of Hyderabad and adjoining Ranga Reddy districts respectively.In a triangular contest for the two seats in Hyderabad district, Congress candidate Prabhakar Rao polled 69 votes, MIM candidate Jaffri secured 59 votes, while TDP candidate Y Mallesam got only one vote. Two votes were rejected out of the total of 127 votes polled.In a straight contest in Ranga Reddy district, Telugu Desam Party candidate M Narender Reddy won the seat by 342 votes against his rival and Congress candidate Kasani Gyaneswar, who got 294 votes. Eight votes were rejected out of total 644 in the elections, which were held on May seven.
